Canoes designs by us and other designers.

Every canoe is built to what ever the client requests. There is no standard design or shape yet proven designs will be used. The use of wood strips allows boats of any shape to be built. The hulls can be highly rounded or have hard-chines. Highly contoured tumblehome designs and re-curve bows equally achievable. Every canoe is designed using sophisticated CADD programs specifically written for small boat naval architecture.

Small solo canoe. Best used with a double paddle (like a kayak). Very easy to carry. Perfect for fishing. Available with a square transom. Great first wooden boat.

Prospector 16

The Chestnut Canoe Company built this “workhorse of the North” to meet the specific needs of the prospector – good maneuverability through whitewater and wilderness, with capacity to carry substantial loads. The 16′ Prospector features a flattened, shallow arch hull with its fullness carried into the bow and stern, good depth amidships to maintain freeboard and deepened ends to keep paddlers and gear dry. The rockered keel-line makes it very maneuverable in whitewater. It is the ideal all-round canoe.

This is a 13 foot long version of the Prospector with the same flattened, shallow arch hull with its fullness carried into the bow and stern, good depth amidships to maintain freeboard and deepened ends to keep paddlers and gear dry. The rocker has been reduced on this version for better straight-line tracking. rockered keel-line makes it very maneuverable in whitewater. Still a great all-round canoe for two people… just a little smaller.
