Chris,
The white graphite was the finish coat. It was applied starting with the fill coats (to fill the weave of the fiberglass cloth) on-ward. It was wetsanded and polished for a final finish like the regular West 423-based graphite coating. The discoloration was classic surface fouling and was a pain to get off. Abrasion-wise it worked very well with only minor deep scratches. More R&D is required I guess…

Thanks for the update Dan, this is great info to have. Was the white graphite was the finishing coat on the hull, or was there some other coat added after the graphite? From the pictures it doesn’t look like the discoloration is from scratching, but some sort of reaction or contamination. Just curious about the root cause…
