2006.12 “White” Black Pearl: New Project

It is a high-performance, wood-strip sea kayak designed by Björn Thomasson in Sweden. It was loosely based on East Greenlander hard-chine kayaks. Here is Bjorn’s page on the boat.

Standard Kayak
LOA = 559cm (18.34′)
Beam = 49cm (19.3″)
Draft = 10cm (3.9″)
Displacement = 120kg (265#)
Cockpit = 56x38cm (22.0″ x 15.0″)
Wood strips used solely as a core material. 3/16″ Thick Strips Standard
Light Weight Fiberglass Layup: Deck: 3oz Satin/ Hull 4oz S-2. Reinforced AFT deck.
Painted Boat: White Interior & Exterior (System 3 WR-LPU)
Cockpit Coaming: Solid Carbon Fiber
Foam seat, thigh braces and fixed foam back rest.
Deck Fittings: Fiberglass Tube Fittings
Deck Lines:3/16†Neocorp SportCord (Black). Locations to be determined. Sliders to be clear coated black walnut.
Handles: Paddle Holders Fore & Aft
End Tips: Add wooden tips to ends. Clear coated wood – Black Walnut
Foot Braces: Foam on bulkhead to allow 3″ adjustment in length MIN.
Hatches: Beckson 8″ Round Fore & Aft.
