Kayaks: Designs
Kayak designs by us and other designers.
Every kayak is built to what ever the client requests. There is no standard design or shape yet proven designs will be used. The use of wood strips allows boats of any shape to be built. The hulls can be highly rounded or have hard-chines. Highly contoured decks and transoms are equally achievable. Every kayak is designed using sophisticated CADD programs specifically written for small boat naval architecture. Standard Greenland style boats are the most common. Complex Aleut baidarkas can also be built with their distinctive bifurcated bows and fixed rudders. Any one want a double?
UPDATE 11/27/2010: We are in the process of updating this page. We have added many new exciting designs, such as the CT-18 and SEA series, since this page was last updated. Each design will have it’s own complete page with lineplans and hydrostatics. Until then, please peruse a few of our older designs.

Magalloway 16
| Touring kayak designed by Dan Caouette. Named after the river in northern NH and western Maine which feeds Lake Umbagog and the Androscoggin. A new design based loosely on the Guillemot but shorter and radically different bow and sterns. The result is a boat with a longer waterline which paddles easier, at a higher speed, which tracking like it?s on rails. The boat looks fast even sitting still. A perfect ocean, big lake or wide river boat. Like the Guillemot it’s still easy to roll and easy to lean with the same storage for day trips and overnight camping.
