If your child is old enough to paddle their own boat (usually at around 4 years old) and you wish they had their own kayak, we can build a kayaks that’s their size. It can be built using the wood strip core, fiberglass method (bright or painted) or skin-on-frame building method. There are very few commercially built kayaks for children. Ours can built built off of scaled down adult designs or from brand-new designs. Either way, they are designed with more initial and secondary stability to make your child’s paddling comfortable and not scary.

When outriggers are attached to the back deck of the kayak, children as young as 2 years old can an enjoy paddling their own kayak.  Until they are old enough to truly go out on their own, an adult should paddle next to them.

We can also build your child and appropriately sized kayak paddle.  Both traditional Greenland and modern “Euro” paddles are available.
