Canoes

We mostly build kayaks but we’ve also had the pleasure to build a couple of canoes. Each boat has it’s own page with project specific information, photo galleries and links to their construction.  Take a look and see what’s possible…

2011 Welsh Brook 13 Solo Canoe

The fall of 2011 I built my father-in-law a new solo canoe as a retirement present from the NHDOT. It’s has a white cedar, western redcedar and pine hull with solid black cherry trim. The design is named after the brook that runs through our camp property. I’ll be making plans available for it shortly.

2007 Prospector 13, FL

The “999” is a bright finished canoe for Robert and Jackie W. in Florida. Built during the fall of 2007 as his graduation present for completing his master's in civil engineering (yeah...). Primary woods are western red cedar and eastern white pine with ash and black walnut accents. Fittings are brass and silicon bronze. Prospector 13 design by CSFW.

2006

The “Aura” is a bright finished canoe we built originally for Christine’s grandmother’s husband who was part of the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division in WWII. He only had a chance to use it a couple of times before he passed on. It is technically for sale but we continue to use it with our kids. Original design by Chestnut Canoe Company.
