2005 “Kasco” Androscoggin 17, NY

Kasco

The “Kasco” can be now found plying the inland waters of New York state. Clear finished with artistic stripping. With carbon fiber coaming, and recessed wooden deck hardware. Good boat for beginners and extended camping trips. Suitable for paddlers between 135 to 215 pounds. Maximum load (paddler with cargo) is 250 pounds.

“Kasco” is the Abenaki (Native American Tribe of NH and Western Maine) word meaning “heron.” The great blue heron provides inspiration. The boat is generally red cedar, white cedar and white pine with Spanish cedar, black walnut, curly maple and cherry accent strips. The bow is made to resemble the great blue heron’s head feathers, while the tail sweeps from the cockpit back into feathers.

Primary woods are western red cedar, northern white cedar and eastern white pine with ash, cherry, curly maple and black walnut accents.
