2006 Black Pearl, CT

2006 BP

This Black Pearl was built for Scott in CT.  It was our first BP of three in a row spanning 2006-2007. The Black Pearl is a long, low and narrow kayak of East Greenland ancestry – extremely easily handled, instantly reacting to shift of weight, leaning etc, and with enough secondary stability to support leaned turns, balance brace and such. It is very easily rolled. Designed by Björn Thomasson Design, Lund, Sweden.

  • Painted with Epifane’s two-pot Poly-Urethane.
  • Light-weight fiberglass lay up: Deck 3oz Satin Weave in and out. Hull 4oz S-2 cloth IO.
  • Hatches are carbon/FG lips magnets/internal bungee backup w/ internal tethers.
  • Coaming: solid wood covered in carbon fiber.
  • Outfitting: Fiberglass tube fittings with ivory painted cherry Usuuappuu (protective tips) on ends.
  • Bone deck toggles carved by Scott L.
