“Nereida” Njord: Epoxy seal coat on the deck
Work on 2/7/2008
The deck, recess and riser were final sanded to P180 and a seal coat of epoxy resin was rolled on. I decided to seal it now before I do the inlays. The epoxy will firm up the mahogany and hopefully prevent blowouts when I’m routing it to accept the inlays. The epoxy really made the grain of the curly maple and the mahogany pop. I’m starting to wish this was going to be my boat! Oh well…
The next posting will cover making and installing the inlays. I should hopefully get them done this President’s Day long weekend. If I do you’ll be in for a real treat next week…
