“Azure” Njord: Quick Update

Work through 6/27/2008:
Hello all. Sorry I haven’t posted an update in a while (has it really been two weeks?!?!). Things at my “real” job have been nuts lately. I HAVE been working on the “Azure.” Not as much as I’d like, but as of this morning I’m at 86.5 hours. It’s been mostly fiberglass work. The carbon-fiber recesses for the compass and the hatches are installed, as are the 18 carbon fiber deck fittings with stainless steel bars. The forward bulkhead ias laminated and almost ready for installation. Below is a quick picture taken a few days ago. The compass and hatch lids are loosely attached. Look a little different? My customer called it all grown up and looking like a “real” sea kayak.
This weekend I’ll be forming the cockpit coaming with integral recess. I’ll post blog entries on how I made all the recesses and deck fittings early next week. No really, I promise!!
