Update: Robert and Jackie’s Prospector 13 Canoe

I just received this message and picture from Robert and Jackie in Florida. I built them the 2007.05 Prospector 13 canoe last fall. I like the line about being the water being too cold for alligators… Some times I wish I could paddle in February.
Dan,
I thought I would send you an update.
We just had the canoe out with some friends on the Ichetucknee River, a beautiful clear water spring fed river about 30 min from our home here in Gainesville. The water temp is 73 deg or greater year round. The river is created by a spring and cool enough that there are no alligators.
There is a pretty good flow to the river. We put in about 3 miles from the spring head and paddled upstream.
Honestly I was amazed. The first thing I noticed was that in the middle of the river with the bow pointed upsteam the boat held its position. It was an amazing thing. No paddling just sitting in the river pointing upstream, with my wife in front and me in the back seat. It’ like the water was not even knowing we were there. We paddled up stream for an hour or so and then let the river bring us back. We all had a great time. I am including some action pics… Enjoy!

PS. What program did you use to design the canoe? My friend that went our with us and took the pics was curious. I told him CAD but I wasn’t sure if it was a special program or software.
For those who are also curious, I use DELFTship to design my boats.
Dan
